Amazfit is one of the few brands that offers smartwatches in different price ranges. While the Amazfit Bip 5 Unity isn’t as AI-powered or “balanced” as the Amazfit Balance that was launched a few months ago, it does have a number of useful features that make it a better option than the more expensive Fitbit Versa, especially if you’re looking for a mix of fitness and productivity.
The key features of the Amazfit Bip 5 Unity include a strong battery, large display, and stylish design. To be fair, you can find these features in smartwatches from brands like Noise or boAT for around Rs 3,000 as well, but what makes the Amazfit Bip 5 Unity special is its software experience, which many Indian smartwatch brands have not been able to implement effectively yet.
If we talk about its price in India, then this is the best smartwatch under 5000 available on Amazon. This could be an ideal choice for those looking for both functionality and value, read below to know more.
Amazfit Bip 5 Unity Design & Build
At first glance, the Amazfit Bip 5 Unity’s design and square display are reminiscent of the Apple Watch. Even though it has a large dial (46mm), it weighs just 25 grams as its square body is made of plastic and brushed metal. In comparison, the 45mm Apple Watch Series 9 weighs more than 50 grams as it is made entirely of metal.
The watch’s lightweight design makes it comfortable to wear, and its low weight makes it suitable for long-term wear. In terms of durability, it has IP68 certification, which gives it protection against dust and water. This is an important feature at this price point, which is not found in many other brand watches. This IP68 rating makes it robust for everyday use.
I’m personally not a big fan of the buckle strap, as it seems a bit old-fashioned for a modern smartwatch. However, the grey stripe design goes well with the square dial and gives it a simple yet attractive look. The Amazfit Bip 5 Unity is also available in Charcoal and Rose Gold options, however, the grey finish of the watch remains constant across all the options, giving it a consistent and modern look.
There is a button on the side of the watch that helps in quickly accessing the menu or activating Alexa. Apart from this, there are also vents for Bluetooth calling at the back of the dial, which makes it even more functional.
Amazfit Bip 5 Unity Display
As I mentioned earlier, the lightweight design of the watch makes it comfortable to wear, but its large display size may be a bit difficult for some people, especially women. The 1.91-inch display may seem large if you have a thin wrist. The viewing experience of the display is okay, as it uses an LCD panel, which can make colours look a little dull, although the brightness is decent in sunlight. The bezels around the display are also not up to par.
The scrolling experience is good, and the custom software works well with the hardware. However, there is no support for Always-on Display (AOD), which could have been a must-have feature at this price. Other features like tap to wake and raise to wake work well, as I found in long-term usage.
You can change the display settings on the watch or via the Zepp app.

Amazfit Bip 5 Unity Features
Users need to download the Zepp app from the Play Store or Apple App Store to add or change watch faces. This app is also required to set up the watch from an Android or iOS phone. I mostly used the Amazfit Bip 5 Unity with an iPhone and it worked fine, but there are still some Apple-related limitations.
For example, you can’t invoke Siri by long-pressing the power button, but Alexa works fine when connected to a smartphone. Alexa has some limited features, like setting timers or getting weather information, but making calls requires a separate calling app on the smartwatch.
The Amazfit Bip 5 Unity has health features like step counting, heart rate, stress monitoring, sleep tracking, and blood oxygen measurement. These features can give you accurate results, but the data should be taken as 参考. There are also other features like on-device gaming, calendar, to-do list, water drinking reminder, music control, and camera shutter.
Amazfit’s key features include PAI (personal physiological activity indicator) and Zepp Aura, which provide fitness reports and sleep analysis. The PAI feature requires a subscription, and the PAI score gives a good idea of your workout. The Amazfit app also has Zepp Coach, which offers “personalized training programs”, but this is only available on the more expensive Amazfit watches.
Performance & Battery Life
The Amazfit Bip 5 Unity offers a lot of health features, but the data should be used only as a reference. For example, the step count can be a bit high and the sleep data is not accurate. Also, wearing a large smartwatch while sleeping can be a bit uncomfortable in summer or rainy weather.
The PAI score, which tracks heart rate and workout activity, gives a good idea of your fitness routine. A score of 30-40 every day is considered good. Amazfit could make it even better by adding a Daily Readiness Score like Fitbit, which will help plan workouts by looking at sleep data.
Apart from the fitness features, the watch has some other useful tools like app notifications from WhatsApp, Instagram, and Gmail. The to-do list has to be updated manually from the Zepp app, but it is helpful for keeping track of your tasks.
The Bluetooth calling feature works well, even when the phone is 10 meters away. The battery life of the watch is also very good, lasting up to 5 days with high settings. It takes about an hour to fully charge, and if the settings are lowered the battery can last even longer.
Conclusion:
The Amazfit Bip 5 Unity is a good smartwatch at Rs 6,999 that offers a mix of fitness and productivity features. It has a big display that looks good, but it may not be for everyone. Features like PAI and Alexa support make it stand out among the under Rs 5000 smartwatches.
However, it could use improvements in areas like display quality and haptic feedback to improve the user experience. Fitness data may not always be 100% accurate, so if you want more accurate tracking then the slightly more expensive Fitbit may be a better option. Overall, if you are willing to use the data as a reference, this is a great option for the price.
