After looking at many budget smartwatch brands, I was a little tired of reviewing them. But then I came across the Boat Wave Sigma 3 Smartwatch and realized that there is still a lot of innovation to be done in the budget smartwatch market. Brands can do a lot without increasing the price, and that is what boAt has done with the Wave Sigma 3.
The Wave Sigma 3 has the look of a typical “cheap smartwatch”, but its smart features are unique and different. It has a big screen, long battery life, and software features that you won’t find in other budget smartwatches. Let’s see what the Wave Sigma 3 offers for just ₹1,499.
Boat Wave Sigma 3 Smartwatch Display
The Wave Sigma 3 sports a large 2.01-inch HD LCD screen with a screen resolution of 240 x 296 pixels and a pixel density of 190 ppi which is bright enough to be viewed outdoors.
The borders around the screen are quite thin, except the bottom which is a bit thick. However, I think it would have been nice if this watch had an AMOLED screen and auto-brightness feature.
Boat Wave Sigma 3 Design & Look
The Wave Sigma 3 looks like a typical smartwatch. It has a plastic case, a large display and a single button on the side. There are sensors at the back, but you won’t feel them while wearing it. The straps are made of soft silicone which feels comfortable on the skin and can be easily replaced if you want.
Apart from that, there is a speaker, microphone and charging pins at the back of the watch. The watch is lightweight, comfortable to wear and not too thick. It can withstand light water splashes as it is rated IPX7 water and sweat resistant.”

Boat Wave Sigma 3 Health Features
The health features on this budget smartwatch are basic. You can track your heart rate, SpO2 and sleep. Apart from this, there are also sports modes to track different exercises. Some information is visible on the watch, but more information is available in the app. You can also turn on continuous heart rate monitoring through the app.
But my advice is that this is an electronic device meant for checking time and not medical equipment. If something happens to you, consult a doctor immediately and do not rely on it.
Boat Wave Sigma 3 Features
The Wave Sigma 3 has a few unique features that set it apart from other smartwatches. The first feature is turn-by-turn navigation, which is pretty unique at this price point. You start the navigation from the Crest app and directions appear on your watch. It doesn’t work with Google Maps, but at a price of ₹1,499, it’s a nice feature and works well.
The other cool feature is live sports scores, which helps track scores of cricket and other sports. It works with a companion app and you can also check scores of sports like football. This feature is especially good for those who love sports, as you can check the score of the match on the smartwatch itself, without having to check your phone.
Apart from this, there are also features like Watch Face Studio and Phone Notifications and Calls. The Watch Face Studio lets you customize your watch face. The Crest app lets you add your favorite icons and backgrounds, like I created the Fallout Pip-boy watch face. This feature is available only in premium smartwatches.
There is also a facility for phone notifications and calls, so that you can see phone notifications and calls on the watch itself. However, the speaker volume is loud, but the microphone is not that good, due to which talking on calls can be a bit difficult.
Connectivity & App Support
The Boat Wave Sigma 3 smartwatch comes with support for the Crest application which is quite easy to set up. It has Bluetooth 5.2, which is not new, but it works well. It is fast when you sync data or add custom watch faces.
The Crest app is very useful and has all the necessary features. But if you prefer a simple app, you may find it a bit complicated. Also, you can start turn-by-turn navigation using Mappls maps in this app.”
Boat Wave Sigma 3 Battery Life
Talking about its battery life, it has a 250mAh Lithium Polymer battery and Boat has mentioned that boAt Wave Sigma 3 will last up to 5 days with all the features, which is what I thought.
But its battery backup depends on how much time you use it, how many times you make Bluetooth calls, etc.
Pros
Cons
Conclusion:
boAt Wave Sigma 3 is a good watch that is available for ₹1,499, and you can buy it from Amazon. It has all the features that are usually found in expensive watches. If you want an affordable watch that has navigation, then you should check out the Wave Sigma 3.
This is a great option for those who want more features at less cost. If you have any questions related to this article, then let us know by commenting below.
