Nord Buds 2r review

Hello friends, in this article today we are going to give a full review of Nord Buds 2r which I tested and used on various devices, including OnePlus, Oppo, iPhone and a Windows laptop. Since receiving them, I have been using these buds as my main, everyday earbuds and have used them quite a lot. Read below to know in detail.

Box Content

First of all, let us talk about the box content, On opening the box, we first see the Nord Buds 2r, after that we get to see the manual & safety guide and a short charging cable (Type C to A) to charge the charging case and along with that we get 3 sizes of eartips.

Nord Buds 2r Design & Fit

The materials are good, nothing special. The charging case is compact in size and can easily fit in your pocket. It has minor scratches, especially on the bottom, but is sturdy enough for everyday use. The OnePlus Buds Pro are the most comfortable as they are lightweight and fit in the ear without tiring. These Nord Buds 2r are also similar – quite lightweight and comfortable in the ears for long hours. The lid feels good to close, but is a bit stiff.

The design of the buds is stylish, with a thin stem, not like the AirPods. The matte black color of the case and buds is very nice, but can slip with dry hands. I used them for hours gaming and watching videos, without fatigue.

The ear tips come in three sizes. They have a small grill that blocks ear wax, which is a good thing. On very humid days (90%+) the Large tip felt sweaty in the ear, but changed to Medium and that was fine. Tip: Choose different sizes of tips for your ears—I personally use Large in one ear and Small in the other.

There’s no reset button on the case, but the buds’ touch controls work well for resetting and pairing. The Nord Buds 2r have an IP55 water resistance rating, so they tolerate sweat well, no problem even in the 45°C+ heat here.

Nord Buds 2r Audio Quality

These buds have three audio profiles: Balanced/Default, Bass and Bold. Balanced is not actually “balanced” but tuned in a V-shape. The Bold profile seems more balanced. The audio quality is good for this price. Separation of sounds and instruments is also fine. Voices sound good, and instruments are also fine. Bass lovers will definitely like these buds.

Passive noise cancellation is also good. At 60-70% volume, the sound of the air cooler is also not heard. This is better than Sony WH-CH520. These remind me of Bullets Wireless Z Bass Edition, but the bass is a little less. The default EQ should not be called “balanced”; it is V tuned, with more emphasis on bass. There is also support for Dolby Atmos/Dirac Tuner. I mostly use Apple Music, where Dolby Atmos works fine.

An interesting thing is that the AAC codec in Bluetooth audio products sounds better on iPhone than on Android, as the AAC performance on Android is not that good even though Android supports high-res codecs.

Nord Buds 2r Mic Quality

The mic quality is decent—it does its job well. When I sit in front of the cooler, even though I have to speak a little louder, the other person can hear me clearly, even when the cooler is running at full speed. This means that the wind noise reduction feature works well in most situations.

Nord Buds 2r Features

These buds have useful features like Device Switch, Game Mode, Camera Control and Find My Earbuds. Device Switch works well, allowing you to switch devices easily.

Game Mode has low latency (94ms) and doesn’t affect gameplay, though it would be nice to have a visual indicator when it’s on. The Find My Earbuds feature helps find the buds if they’re lost, but it’s not quite the same as Google’s Find My Device.

The Camera Control feature lets you take hands-free photos by simply double-tapping the buds and setting a 3-second timer. This comes in handy when you want to take a photo without touching the phone. Overall, these features make the buds even more convenient and versatile.

Nord Buds 2r Controls

These buds have four types of touch controls: Single tap, Double tap, Triple tap and Long press and hold. Each one has a different function:

  • Single tap: This can be set to None or Play/Pause.
  • Double tap: It has several options like None, Play/Pause, Previous, Next, Voice Assistant and Game Mode. If you choose the voice assistant option, it triggers Google Assistant on Android and Siri on iPhone.
  • Triple tap: Same as double tap, but doesn’t have the Play/Pause option.
  • Long press and hold: This can be set to None or Switch Device.

You can set different controls on either side of the buds. When you use these controls, you get an audio prompt that indicates you’ve turned on Game Mode or changed devices.

Nord Buds 2r Connectivity

I have tested these buds on multiple devices and have never had any connection issues. They instantly connect to the last connected device and the connection is strong. Switching between two connected devices with a long press also always works fine. I have often switched between iPhone and Android, and have had no issues so far.

Nord Buds 2r Battery Life

The best thing about these buds is their battery life. Battery life is very good. On the first day, I wanted to check their battery, but I was tired, not the buds! They can easily last you more than 5 hours, especially at 60-70% volume. They can last up to 8 hours, so there is no worry about the battery. It is important to have good battery life in TWS, so that they work well even if the battery weakens over time.

These buds come with a small red and white Type C to A cable. I did not check their full charge time, but they charge quickly. If you use the buds immediately after charging or on a hot day while charging the case, the buds may get a little hot.

Price in India

Talking about its price, it is priced at Rs 1,999 which is available for free on Amazon. It is a good value for money (VFM) just because of its battery life. It performs almost all the essential features well and is reliable.

However, nothing is perfect, especially when it comes to budget. There are some minor drawbacks like the audio quality is just okay, the mic is also passable. And the case can get scratched easily.

Conclusion:

These buds are good for those who want features that meet the basic needs. They have reliable connection, good battery life, strong bass and the option to easily change devices. They are also good for gamers as they have low latency, so there is no delay during gaming.

It is important to pay attention to its shortcomings before buying anything so that you can know if they can bother you. It is always good to look at the options while shopping. If you have any questions related to this article, then tell us by commenting below.
